Carpinteria, up by Santa Barbara, has a BIG state beach campground.
Shaver Lake -- the farthest drive, but lots of good memories. Near Cold Creek and the sliding rocks. We could rent ski-do's and canoes.
Carlsbad Beach -- near San Diego, never been there, but they're talking about doing the ward family camp there next year.
Big Bear--need I say more? We might even be able to talk the gps and other family into coming part of the time.
Just some ideas. Tell me what you think.

Go check out the site above and click on the first link: Harvey West Cabin or the Loon Lake Chalet.
See what you think. They're big cabins in the mountains on a river or lake -- hold 20 people. $100 per night. I can cover it.
I think I'm pretty open for anything. They are all fun possibilities. Personally, I'd rather get out of Arizona for a vacation so Flagstaff wouldn't be high on my list. Anything by the beach is the most alluring for me but Yosemite looks great too...so many great options and fun people to spend time with. :)
As much as I am a Mexi-CAN, it looks like we should put it on the back burner for a few short years, when, I am sure, we will all be in the money.
In the mean time, I will be happy to 'go where you want me to go dear' Fam. just let me know and I will work it out--though July is a pretty crazy time at work for me, so I would prefer late June or early July.
We will be going to Utah for the 4th of July as usual
Jeff hows it going? Does anything sound fun? Sally?
I go to Flagstaff all the time. I have no desire to go there for vacation. I prefer the beach (ocean) over all other options. Camping sounds like it would be tough with so many young kids but Yosemite sounds cool. What would the cost of cabins be?
I've sent a couple of emails to everyone. Has anyone gotten them? Checking, I learned there's no camping IN Yosemite anymore, we'd have to be outside the park, but I haven't looked that closely yet. The 1st email I sent looks great--but it's a bit of a long drive. I found another great place on the east side of Zion's--pool, hot tub, 4 wheelers--can either camp or take a cabin of some kind. Camping is $10/person/night. I'm not sure of the cost of the cabins.

Navaho Lake is in Cedar Breaks--closer to Miranda than Zion.
I posted on the Mexi-CAN entry, but I guess I'm down with whatever everyone can do. I don't really know what the kiddies need. I just camped in Yosemite, but it was backpacking. So maybe what Mom means is that there are no campgrounds? I wouldn't recommend backpacking for children, at all. So, what happened to camping on the beach? Carpinteria? Carlsbad? I think it's a lot less hassle, and endless fun for the kids. I don't really want to go to Cedar Breaks that much, sorry Randa. But really, I'll go anywhere. I'm really not sure what I'll be doing next summer, though, so I can't guarantee anything for sure...but will do my best.
My feelings are the same I will go wherever everyone else wants, but I agree the beach is endless entertainment for all big-small. I know they fill very fast in Carlsbad we will have to get on it I have a friend that camps there every year I can get the info. Whatever my kids the the beach and I know Kates do to. Well really who doesn't? I just love this idea!
ditto (except for the part of knowing someone who goes to Carlsbad every year)
I think everyone would prefer an ocean side beach vacation. That said I for one don't want to do family camp with the ward because Sal, Randa and I don't have any friends in the ward anymore. Amy's kids might still know a couple of the kids but Katie's don't.
OK I'm getting the picture. I'll start looking at beach camps. The houses are too expensive, but camping should be fun. Do you want to stay toward San Diego or head a little north. If Sally has to work, maybe San Diego area (Carlsbad) would be a good choice. She can commute if necessary and we'll try to work around Randa's schedule.
Sounds perfect Mom Thanks for taking on this project. I think towards SD anyway less driving the better.
Does Randa know her schedule?
Not really, she just knows that July is her busiest month. So we may have to look at the end of June instead.
I found out that I am good until about the 10th of July. My major programs start the 12th. Anytime before that.
I am so excited! Sounds like GREAT fun!
