NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

This is what my head has been loudly thinking for the past 45 minutes since I found out. Apparently I booked December 18-21 for Doheney for my 2 campsites. I know people make mistakes but this is one of the most annoying ones I have EVER made and feel super irritated. Mainly because now we can't camp there in June- well we have Amy's spot. SO 8 people can camp there in her awesome spot she got. The other reason is now I just have to see if they will refund me $134.00. I called and the lady is going to get back to me. She's like "Didn't you receive your confirmation emails?" which I did but, ASS-U-ME-d it had all the info I had just entered- or that I thought I had entered.
I am so sorry. I feel horrible :(
If you have any questions I'll be here..hanging my head in shame.

Should I double check mine? We can all squeeze can't we?

My heart is not broken. Still some beautiful camping up here by me.... lakes and rivers, Zions. It's REALLY nice and cheap.

Except for the getting there. Not as cheap for most. And also probably booked, at least Zion's.
But it is pretty there.

One of the reasons we chose SoCal was so Sally could get back & forth if need be. Sooo. maybe Utah's not the best choice.

Kate's checking around to see what might be available down here. Even if it's not the beach, we can still have a good time. Anyone remember Tubby? I think that campground was in Encinitas, or somewhere nearby, but towards San Diego. They had hayrides at night, tent camps and a petting zoo.

Or, Amy reminded me about the time we went to Huck Finn Days at Mojave Narrows. When they had the greased pig contest and the pole climb and the medicine show, etc. That's an annual activity that happens there every Father's Day...which I think is the weekend we're talking about.

There will be something fun to do. We dont need the beach, just a happy time together.

Check this out.

Don't worry about me getting back and forth. I don't think that's going to pose a problem.

Kate don't feel bad. It's not that big a deal.

PS: The Huck Fin things does not appeal to me at all but it's for the kids so whatever.

I'm okay with where ever. I don't want it to only be fun for the kids either. The Huck Finn thing looks like it's camping at a lake. I don't love the country theme but it looks like it could be fun. I'm really mainly excited to just all be together and having time to talk and laugh, etc. If something was available at Zions I think that would be awesome too.
I was telling mom that it's too bad someone can't use the spot Amy has since it's such a good one. Maybe some of us could get a hotel nearby and then go to the beach during the day?

Sally said...

Maybe people could take turns camping and with the hotel? That way it wouldn't be all the expense for any one family, and we could all enjoy a nice bed at some point, too.
Despite my literary interest, and that I remember that was fun when I was a kid, I'd probably prefer Zion's to the desert. But, I don't care much either. We're so fun, it won't really matter where we are.

what do you think about that mom?

Miranda said...

Can I be the hotel manager and stay there all the time?

Sally said...

This is sounding like a Monopoly game!

I'll be the banker.

I'm fine with whatever everyone wants to do. Zion's or someplace by Randa is lovely, or we can do the hotel, or even commute from my house if we want to. Take a vote and decide where you want to be, and I'll come along.

If we go hotel, I may be one of the first to move in with Randa...

Take a poll and make a decision.

Looks like I'm going to get my fill of camping this summer. I just got called to be ward YW camp director... Hmmmmm.

PS: FYI, although Huck lost the vote on this round, Mojave Narrows, as I remember, is actually very grassy, with trees, and right on the edge of the river with fishing--not desert.

Umm,I just looked at the price for going to the Huck Finn thing, and it's way too expensive anyway. You can forget that idea. Must have been cheaper in the old days. :)

Miranda said...

Camp Director? Hahaha! Well, I hope they release you from Primary at least. Good on ya Mom.

I am fine with camping as long as there is a shower, toilet, and a reasonably soft bed roll--and I prefer to actually be able to see stars and not hear traffic. It's always cheaper than a hotel.

I'll look for anything interesting around here, but I'm fine with going somewhere else too.

I like the idea of Mom being the banker!

Amy said...

isn't she always?

If you're for making it work at Doheney say "aye" or "nay" for something else.
I think for me it's an "aye"

Sally said...

One good thing about Doheny is I think Dan and Keri could come visit with their kids. It was really fun seeing them a few weeks ago...
I could go either way. I love the beach, but I'll get plenty of it.
Zion's sounds nice, too.

Nay: squeezing 25 bodies into a 10x10 campsite doesn't sound fun ever, even on beach front property. There are plenty of other lovely--less crowded-- places to go, Utah or not. Flagstaff seemed pretty nice when I drove through last year. Not much of an escape for the Arizonans though.

Plus you could make some serious money hawking that place on e-bay Amy.

Kate said...

I'm not saying cramming everyone in. I don't think they would let us do that anyway. I'm saying like the hotel idea. I'm happy to do whatever, I was just trying to come to some type of conclusion.

Amy said...

I am still a aye, with the hotel, I don't think I can seel that on E-bay good idea though. I think its easy and cheap entertainment a few sand toys and boogie boards were good to go for days!

Mom said...

There's a Best Western Hotel at Dana Point -- "0 miles from Doheny." Does Dana get any perks?

Kate said...

Yes. He'll have to call that specific hotel and see what deal they'll give him :)

Amy said...

Lets check it out and make a descion one way or the other. I want to start planning my summer.

Kate said...

He's going to try to find out today.

Kate said...

Would we need 2 rooms or 1?

Kate said...

nevermind, I'm thinking 1. Hopefully he'll find out the discount tomorrow. :)
