Well after lots of calls not getting me anywhere, I finally wrote a letter to whomever it concerned at "Reserve America". Now within just 5 days, I have a refund for 2 campsites that laid vacant in mid-December (along with 85% of the campground).
So, I will be able to enjoy our family vacation completely untainted by my error. AND I'm getting sooooo excited for the trip! Especially with these 100+ temps we're already getting! Yea for the beach!!! Do Dana and I need to buy a tent beforehand? We want to soon anyway, so we can.
We are on our last full week of school here! Anyway, thought I'd share:)
Do we need to make any other plans?

Awesome! I guess the camping folk are still more tuned into the slow paced, letter writing means of complaint.
In another item of good news, non-church related, I got the writing job for next year that I interviewed for last week.
Yea for everyone!
I should have a big tent (2 roomer) that I've only used once. I haven't had time to go look for it, but it should be in the shed.
Congratulations Sal! That is awesome news :)
Let me know if you find that tent mom- whenever you have time.
Do you want any type of agenda? Like a rough one?
I meant "we" not "you".
I think some kind of agenda would be good. So that we pack the fun in or don't miss out if something's only available at certain times or something.
Sal,
Congrats I didn't know you where interviewing for anything! Don't you get everything like that though? Your always a fav!
See you this weekend?
I agree with Sally. I think a rough outline would be helpful. We should also plan who sleeps where what night.
Can I drive my truck onto the campsite? I would probably just sleep in the back of it.
I think there is parking there. So, you could just sleep in the parking spot in the truck. What about Carrie?
I thought Carrie was going on a trip somewhere.
So what are all the things people want to do? I know the American Girl store. Miranda said San Juan Capistrano Mission. Anything else?
Make sure there's time to sit on the beach and do nothing!
Carrie's trip has changed into a 2 week thing, so I guess she's free to come! That'll be a good chance to get to know her, but I don't think she gets to sleep in the car with Jeff...maybe she can move around between wherever Sally and Randa and I are, in my tent and the hotel room. I assume I'll be in one of the rooms part of the time with either the girls or a family. Do you think she'll be ok with that?
Remember Keri and Dan wanted to come and bring their kids one day.
I've heard Steve's coming down...the whole time? Which days? Anyone know?
And we need to figure out who's sleeping in the hotel rooms which nights.
There really are a few things we need to organize. Kate, did you volunteer?
No one answered my question about whether or not I can just sleep in my truck...
Carrie is in Peru right now. She'll only be there for two weeks but she's scheduled to work that weekend and it's unlikely she'll be able to get out of it.
Steve is coming for the whole time he already booked a hotel nearby for his family.
I just called them and they said that there is one vehicle per site allowed and more is $10 extra. Not sure if thats per day or for the whole time.
Amy if you could let me know what the site number we have is, he said I could call back and he could tell me how big the site is/how many tents we could fit there.
Here's the Park Phone: (949) 496-6172 in case anyone needs to ask them anything else. It rang about 50 times but someone finally answered.
I can organize whatever but I was hoping we could all figure it out together through this lovely family blog.
I'm starting to think we'll skip the American Girl store. I think I'd rather have more time to just play and relax. Plus neither of my girls care so why spend extra $. Since you're staying longer Aim then you could go later too.
I guess I'll be in charge of who stays where when. During the day I'm guessing we'll all be down at the beach anyways. Please let me know if you have preferences on what nights you stay where.
It seems like we had an earlier blog discussion of what everyone wanted to do. That might help you, Katie, in planning or remembering what is available. Just an idea. I think we talked about the aquarium? I remember saying I didn't care about the AG store and Miranda saying she wanted to go.
I looked back and I didn't see anything about an aquarium. I saw the AG store and SJC and a possible "flower walk" by mom. For me, I'd be up for an aquarium since I know my kids will LOVE it and we already have the ocean life theme going. But I think we'll just stick to that only. Whoever else wants to coordinate the other things go for it. I will plan the sleeping arragements.
It all sounds fine to me. I'll just do whatever makes everyone else happy.
I'm just remembering that I went on a field trip to Dana Point, but it was pretty "educational" not like Sea World. We'd have to look into it. I think I do remember a touch pool there. And I don't know how much it is either.
Sal quit trying to nerd up our vacation and turn it into a 4th grade field trip. ha ha jk aquarium would be fun.
Hey! It was a senior year field trip, all right!
