I really am so grateful that Prop 8 passed! I was pretty skeptical when I first heard of it. It's been a real faith-builder for me of what we can do when we put our convictions to work as a people. My roommates and I have been feeling like although this was really difficult, it was just the beginning. It really feels like we're being prepared for things to come...
So gear up, everyone!
But for now, it's definitely celebration time!

Yes, me too! They are not going to let this die. I am proud that everyone stepped it up. Espically Mom. Again what a good example! It really is a scary propostion to think of all the changes it can make but as for now a wonderful blessing!

I really don't even think it would lead to that many immediate consequences for us, despite all the little stories of law suits. I just think it represents a gigantic ideological shift in our society that it is our duty to resist. We can't sit idly by and condone something that goes against our fundamental beliefs. I think we're responsible, if nothing else, for speaking out and doing our part.

What's prop 102? It's ridiculous that any politician can challenge the validity of prop 8. To not accept it now is to say that you do not accept the will of the people or the state constitution. If not those things then on what do you base your actions and authority?

Who is posting as "the giles family"?
And Sally I agree with what you said except the part about "no immediate consequences". Even though there might not be lawsuits right away, and freedom of religion would be safe for awhile, many small changes were already beginning to happen- starting with kids in schools- (i.e. that story mom sent to us). I feel like this was such a victory for families! Mom and Sal, thanks for putting in so much time to fight for truth. Hopefully this will send Obama a message that our country still has morals since he's promised to be a president of the people and be non-partisan, etc.

Prop 102 was a similar proposition we had here in AZ- to put it on the state's Constitution that marriage is between one man and one woman. We had a sign in our yard and we were asked to make calls, etc. When I heard prop 8 was looking good, I knew we had 102also. I cared way more about these than the presidential election. Ha ha to Hollywood!

Enjoy a little celebration. It really is good to know that we're not alone and when we pull together, we can make an important statement. Unfortunately, it's going to be harder and harder to stand up.
They had a demonstration outside the LA Temple this evening.
