Where were you on 9-11-01?

Its hard to believe that it really has been 10 years! We thought it would be interesting to get everyone story of where and what they were doing when they heard about the attacks! So tell you story please...

Oh this is a neat :) I was only in 9th grade when it happened. So I remember going to seminary and then walked into my 1st period science class and my teacher had the news on and told us what was going on. That's pretty much all we did that whole day of school was watch the news in each class. I'll admit I was still a little confused until I got home and talked to my mom more about it. Each year I read more about it and watch more programs on it and it gets more heartbreaking the older I get. I just can't wrap my head around the thought of people being so cruel.

I LOL'd when I saw this :) Thanks for posting it Amy.

I was living in our little 1-bedroom apt in Brea. Emma was 1 and Eli was in my tummy. Dana woke me up and told me to come watch the news. His work was cancelled for the day. We cried and I held my tummy thinking how grateful I was that he was safe inside and also what our world would be like for our sweet little babies. I'm so grateful our country has been pretty free from attacks for the last 10 yrs.

Carrie- wow I can't believe you had school! And that you were in 9th grade :)

I was just back from my mission and teaching the early shift at the MTC. Tuesdays were my day off, so I took advantage of sleeping in until around 9 that day. All my roommates were gone, and I just started studying, with no idea of what had happened. Around 10--hours after the attacks--Krisanne called me to say that our old roommate who worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines out of Boston was safe. She was supposed to have been on one of those flights but her schedule had changed for some reason. That was the first I had heard of any of it. I turned on the news, and watched a bit. Then I went to classes and that's really all we talked about all day.
September 11th is also Jill's birthday. I was living with her at the time, and we had a party planned. I remember that we did still eat the cake, but we didn't sing. We just had people come over to watch the news. It felt wrong to celebrate anything. I still feel bad for Jill that her birthday is now on such a sad day in our history.
I also have to admit that none of it really sank in for me until I actually went to New York and understood what those buildings were. I stood there staring at Ground Zero, and it was hard to comprehend the enormity of those attacks. They had an exhibit of photos taken that day posted around the site. I still remember one of a man holding up a sign with O+ written on it. It still makes me tear up to think about that. It's touching to see the best of humanity come out in response to the very worst of it.

Thanks for sharing that Sal. I guess I might sound like an idiot but what does o+ mean?

It took me a while to figure it out when I saw it. I thought that was just me. It's his blood type. He was holding it up, offering to donate blood to anyone who needed it.

In a Mexican bus station. We had transfers that day. I actually saw the second tower fall live.
