Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

Okay, I think we have some dates that will work for everyone (i hope!). How does Aug 1-5 (first week of Aug.) work? Works for me and Miranda so far. We're thinking of doing beach camping again somewhere down by Sally and Eter and that way she can come during the day and we can all enjoy their sweet 1 month old baby!!!
Here's a few memories from last time. You know, to get you in a beachy mood.

Say you can go Pleease :)

And if I ever find Bananagrams I will bring those too.

Sounds perfect! We'll be up there during the day, maybe with some kind of baby beach tent like Kristy had last time when they came for the day.
I'll see if Eter can get at least some of the time off work. I'll be fancy-free for the summertime!! WHOOOOO! (Except for the one-month-old baby which I don't think can ever equal "fancy free", right?)

Can we try and be there for the weekend? I would prefer that we were there on July 30th to like August 3rd. I think AZ has school so you wouldn't want to stay for till Sunday, August 7th. I'm not so sure I can take a full week of work off. It's usually best if I can use the weekend. But if that's how it has to be we'll be there when we can.

Ha ha ha I remember those Kayaks I made Tatum paddle one with me pretty hard so that we could get back to the place in time. We also almost got lost out there...

Amy was just saying the same thing. We can't really incorporate the weekend before because it's in July which we missed the booking date for.

Just called the school to find out when school starts next year. It's not until the 10th so maybe we could go into the following weekend. I know Miranda has to leave on the 4th though. The 1st through the 5th works for me!

I mean the 6th.

I was just on "reserve america" and we may have a little glitch. It looks like the people that booked for July we able to reserve into Aug if their reservation started in July. So there are some available but many are already booked into August. But I say we still pick the best campground and go for it. Sal maybe you could figure out which campground would be the most convenient for you.

Uggh! ya I say what ever we can get I can be there longer but Dan will probably be there just for the weekend. Unless he has some new fantastic job that has paid time off!
WE can hope right? So we need any and EVERYone that can be be ready on FEB 1 at 8 am to call and be on the computer to get the best spots possible!
Yipppeee I am excited to have eveyone together at least for a few days!

san elijo and south carlsbad both have good reviews- esp. san elijo.

Why don't we just try to book a spot and start it in July?Is one area really much better than another?

Kate said...

all July is filled at all of them.

Sounds marvelous! I should be able to help make phone calls--no class during 1st period. You figure out what works for everyone and I'll be there. I may have to do a little back & forth to help grampa, but we can work something out.

Would everyone rather stick with Doheney or try a new place?

Mom said...

The advantage of doheny was that its at beach level. The others require climbing up and down cliffs/stairs -- I think.

I'm good with whatever everyone else wants to do. I know my schedule is weird--week days are kind of better to me than weekends--so don't plan around my life. I'll just be there as much as I/we can.

TOM- Driving on your birthday would be sucky, but being at the beach the day before your birthday would be awesome. Right? I'll make you a cake to eat in the car.

HEY! For some reason my last comment never showed up here.
I said both San Elijo and Carlsbad are about 30 min from us.
Doheny is about an hour. So, we'd obviously prefer the other two, esp maybe for traveling with a tiny baby.
But if Mom needs to be going back and forth for Grandpa, then Doheny is closer for her. So, either way.

Kate said...

yeah- thanks for commenting FINALLY. JK. I'm okay with either :)

I'm fine with whichever--the drive's not that far and Gampa says he doesn't have to have me there every night. So go with the easy one for the NEW mama. Have you looked at photos of the campground/beach access? Maybe Sally could go take a look (since she has nothing else to do!)

Based on the reviews I read San Elijo seemed more popular but that could make it harder to get enough spaces too. I like the idea of Sally checking them out. You guys could have a date night- Taco Bell on the beach:) They're right next to each other. Both are on a bluff with stairs.

Uuuummmmmm. Maybe after next week. We are moving this weekend. Plus, we had to pay two rents this month (SD rents, at that!) and we're pretty much zeroed out. We'll be sitting at home until the 21st. Good thing we barely have to drive anymore.

Kate said...

just find out before the 31st :) Hope your move went well!

So what did we actually end up with?
I went to see the spots. 101 is ok, not too far from the others. 106 is good, and would be great if we could get any of the spots on any side of it. 107 is not so good--backs up to the chain link fence with the road on the other side, but it's near the rest room and right across the road from 106, it'll work. As long as we're together, we'll have a good time!

Oops, that was me...didn't realize I was signed into the iPad as grampa.

Not 101. 1. Just 1.
