An Appeasement

In response to the many phone enquires I received in the last 24 hours I will give you all a little update on my life.
Yes I did go on a real date last night. It was fun. It was not very romantic. We ate at Chilies. I had chicken, he had fajitas. We then went to one of the Festival plays. We both thought it was just ok. His name is Devin. We’ve been friends ever since I moved in. I don’t think either of us are interested in taking it any further than an occasional date at the moment. But it was fun.
In other good news:
I found $20 in my pants pocket earlier this week. Score.
I had a lot of fun driving around up the canyon the other day with a friend, enjoying the fall colors and good discussion. I did lose a hub-cap though.
The weather (until today when it SNOWED) has been lovely.
Mom made me a really cool CD New York CD—I leave on Thursday. Whoot. And I’ll get to see Jeff who kindly agreed to drop me and my friends at the Airport.
Christina and two girls from my old ward are coming with me to NY so I will not be alone. (I will give a NY report when I return)
Work just gets better and better. This week I actually gave an orientation for a play to about 500 students. I first found out about this job while watching my boss, Michael Bahr, give an orientation. (Remember that mom? That’s what I got to do.) This week I got to do his job. It was awesome and I think I did a pretty good job.
I gave myself a little fitness test this week just to see if I would be able to, my wildest dreams, complete a triathlon. I found I could swim 25 laps on Monday, bike 9 long sweaty miles on Tuesday (that was the worst!), do a Power Pump class on Thursday, and run a 5k on Friday. So I guess, if I had a week to complete it, I could do a Tri. Anyway, it made me feel pretty good.
One of my good friends is getting his life together and making me proud by making good choices. This has really lifted my spirits, and sort of restored my faith in men.
I am making a little extra money by working for a couple relaxing hours on the weekends. I show up, put out a sign and sit and read or listen to theatre discussion, and make $25 for an hour or two. Sweet!
We started auditioning kids for our Playmakers show this week. We are producing my original adaptation of A Christmas Carol this December. It’s fun to see something I put together take on a life of its own. I am stage managing the show and I’m really excited to see it on stage.
Life is sooo good. I love you all very much.
This is a picture, not from our date, but of Devin and I as co-hosts at a party entitled ‘Rule Britania Night.’ We met at the school bell tower (nicknamed the Big Benson) played world domination board games (like Risk), ate gourmet food (like Havarti), and spoke in British accents (His idea, mine was the best). It was really fun.

Well since you didn't call me back I'll ask my questions on here-
Are you saying you're going to do the Triathalon with Amy?
Are you saying "Whoot" like an owl? Sally used that word on facebook and I just don't know what sound that is supossed to make.
How was the chicken?

Sounds like life is good. That makes me a smiley mom. Have a marvelous time in NY--and I'll see you in about 2 weeks. I know, you bring me a souvenir from NY for my B-day. Love you!

WOW! I am so happy! You sound so happy. I am glad that things are good and that you are not going to New York alone, Have blast! Are you going to give it a TRi????

Amy&Kate: For now the Tri is a no. I would need to get a good swim suit, new shoes, a bike, a helmet, a bike rack. Etc. But I will contiune the training because it feels good.
Kate: The Chicken was quite good.
Whoot sounds just like it looks--like a owl hoot! only with a 'wh' sound at the beginning--like combining the words 'wood' and 'boot.' It was last year's word for 'cool' or 'awesome.' The new word that is coming in is 'Hollar' as in 'that makes me want to shout!' The R at the end is not usually pronounced. That is your modern slang lesson for the evening.
Mom: that is my new plan. Anything type of thing you would like me to look for?

Aww.. I think I'm getting that sound now. Like with the fist in the air? Oh and "anything type of thing" doesn't make sense. That's your modern lesson in grammar for forever. haha couldn't resist

I actually understood "any type of thing". What I'd like to address grammar-wise, as long as "we" are on the subject, is run-on sentences! There are certain persons who make these very serious error so much that I often have to read over the sentences two or three times. Now, not to name names, but those with children who need help with homework might want to really make sure to learn this important skill. Also perhaps those persons who make a living trying writing things to make other people buy things from them. I'm happy to give some helpful instruction any time!

Perhaps Sally will be of a mind to proofread her own writing as well: periods go inside quotation marks; a plural demonstrative pronoun must refer to a plural subject, not a singular one; actions are generally done "often" rather than done "much"; and the penultimate sentence seems to be missing a word, in addition to being incomplete.

This one's for you, Girls!
Nanny, nanny, Sal!

As for me and my bad run on sentences don't worry Taum adds puncuation and spelling all the time for me just not on the blog I will say I understand that it bugs you just like for me looking at all the bad regrowth and h/c's that I have to fix for all of you well mom happy birthday and thanks for the help it really was a "hollar" hope this sentence wasn't too painful Prof.Giles :)

Uuuuugghh. That was painful for ME!

Wow! I got TOLD. Admittedly, my entry was very poorly written. Ouch. Reading it over now, as opposed to when I wrote it (12:10 am), I am truly humbled. Thanks, Mom, for the lesson. Nonetheless, my feelings on run-ons remain unchanged. The re-growth comparison is a good one. Run-ons and fragments constantly pop up in my students' writing, and it drives me crazy. So, it is painful to find them encroaching into the personal, safe-space of the family blog, which I navigate to as a refuge from studying and grading.
All in all, I'm glad Tatum is able to succeed against the odds. I hope the others will be so lucky...

Ok, I will try to be better. I never have claimed to be "educated" espically in the grammer dept. So no guarntees!
